Mission Briefing

Agent Peggy here, orbiting over Manchester and on a mission to save pups from boredom, switch on those sniffers and boost brain gains alongside their favourite hooman! Rewarding scent-work and puzzle play= brains engaged, bodies chilled, naps incoming.

Mission Objective: Happy dogs, calm companions and fewer shoe casualties! (You're welcome!) 👟

Mission Log

🧠 Why Enrichment?

  • Mental work reduces boredom behaviours and builds impulse control.
  • Problem-solving and sniffing tire and work the brain, which helps dogs settle.
  • Pups are wired to hunt and sniff. Nose-work lowers arousal and encourages calm.
  • Simple formula: Sniff → Solve → Settle.

🦺 Safety & Setup

  • Supervise games and puzzles.
  • Start easy and keep early sessions shorter for maximum fun, maximum confidence building.
  • Pick suitable sizes, and rotate games regularly to keep engagement high.
  • Choose kibble combined with a few higher value treats for motivation, while keeping daily intake in check.
  • Quick wins beat one long struggle every time.

🎯 Level 1: Snuffle & Scatter

Think of it as hide-and-seek and treasure hunt for snacks. Horray!

  • Visible treats → lightly covered → deeper hides.
  • Achieve Five easy wins before upgrading complexity to build confidence (especially great for shy or anxious pups)

Agent Peggy recommends: "Find-it-Fridays" (Also valid for every day ending in Y)

🎾 Level 2: Treat Dispenser Toys

Goodbye boredom, hello happy dog.

  • Start with loose kibble, advance to frozen layers.
  • Aim: steady, engaging playtime.

🧩 Level 3: Puzzle Boards

  • Puzzle solving = brain flexing.
  • One challenge at a time: flaps or pegs, not both.
  • Rotate puzzle boards over time to keep play time exciting and engaging

🥣 Level 4: Slow Feeders

Transform mealtime from fast-food frenzy to mindful munching.

  • Slow feeders provide mental stimulation while preventing bloat! Pick patterns matching skill level!
  • Once your dog has mastered the puzzle, level up!

🎨 Level 5: DIY Brilliance

Become a puzzle creator - with what you already have at home!

  • Towel treasure rolls, cardboard box adventures, your best friend just wants to have fun with you!
  • Recycle when done, retire if chewed.

🤝 Team Mode with Agent Mish (He Insisted!)

Double the dogs, double the fun.

  • Alternate "find-it" searches and mat relaxations every 60–90 secs.
  • Swap roles, share victories, celebrate!

📅 Agent Peggy's Weekly Enrichment Schedule

⏱️ Progress Check

  • Completed in under 30 secs? Level up!
  • 30–120 sec? Just right!
  • Over 3 mins or frustration signs? Simplify!

✅ Ending on a High Note

  • Finish when your pup is calm, content, and curious.
  • Stop early if frustration bubbles up and make it easier, so they always end on a win!

Brains engaged, paws relaxed. Enjoy the victorious nap that follows!

Until next time,

Peggy 🐾
